A Few Steps to Start Taking Control of Your Asthma (and Some Tools to Help)
STEP 1: HELP EMPOWER YOURSELF BY LEARNING MORE ABOUT ASTHMA
Maybe you want to discover ways to better control your asthma, but you don’t know where to start. Asthma is complex but learning more about your condition shouldn’t be. Help improve your understanding of asthma symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment options through live and virtual learning experiences with LUMA (Learning to Understand and Manage Severe Asthma).
LUMA is a free asthma education program, specifically developed for patients and caregivers, that provides interactive learning experiences delivered by a healthcare professional to small groups. View a list of upcoming events, and take the next step in learning more about severe asthma.
The information provided does not replace instructions given to you by your doctor.
STEP 2: GATHER THE INFORMATION YOU NEED TO HELP GET THE BREATHING YOU IMAGINE
AIRQ® is a set of 10 yes or no questions designed to help you and your doctor better understand your level of asthma control. After taking the questionnaire, be sure to bring the results to your next appointment.
Remember that AIRQ® is NOT intended to:
- Diagnose asthma
- Be used to help assess asthma control in children younger than 12 years of age
- Take the place of advice or treatments given to you by your doctor
- Tell you which asthma management plans are best for you
- Collect or store any of your laboratory values or lung function test values
STEP 3: MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH A SPECIALIST
An asthma specialist like an allergist or pulmonologist treats patients with asthma and respiratory conditions and may be able to recommend management plans to help control your asthma. Our Doctor Finder tool can help you make a virtual or in-person appointment today.
STEP 4: SHARE YOUR ASTHMA STORY AND INSPIRE OTHERS
Tell us about your asthma journey from the moment you got your diagnosis to the moment you realized it was time to break the cycle of asthma. Your story could inspire others who are just beginning their asthma journey.
